On the island of Tenoch at Huey Teocall, the Greater Temple of the Aztecs the Great Speaker Ahuizoti looked on the finished as it
dazzled in the sun, a fitting tribute to Huizilopochtli. But all was not well, for the inaugural sacrifice
had fled their chamber and was
making their way to the exit of the temple.
But the wrath of Huizilopochtli was great, and as the sacrifice passed each of the four rooms dedicated to the
sun god, the sun disapeared or reappeared in the sky. Fearing
escape impossible the sacrifice
raced for freedom, taking but
1 second to cross a tile.
