#182:Transit
HIS IS AN EXCERPT FROM ONE OF PERPLEX CITY'S BESTSELLING NOVELS. SET IN OUR WORLD
Chapter five
November 10th 2084
After weeks of arduous climbing, I finally summitted today, a scant few hours early. The sun was a brilliant chip of light, like a diamond among a sackful of gems carelessly strewn across the sky. You wouldn't believe how far I can see from here, there can't be another view like this anywhere in the world. i didn't bother setting up camp before unpacking my 'scope and tripod, so i could watch that bright little star as it fell towards the Sun.
The transit itself...i felt so close. You're not supposed to cry in these suits, they say it interferes with the oxygen filter, but I couldn't help myself - don't laugh! Anyway, I have to sign off now and make some measurements. Keep a seat warm for me at Underhill base.
