And if I'd betrayed you to the police, why aren't they at your apartment right now, arresting you? I know which building you live in. I know what you look like. All they'd have to do is throw a cordon round the basement levels and work their way up. You're hardly going to escape out of the window, after all!

Couldn't this just be perfectly understandable paranoia? We know that the danger you're in is real. That guy was probably just a fitness instructor on his lunch hour or something.
